Internet Marketing Job Search

Having been in the industry for a little over a year or two I have found that most so called internet marketing jobs are non-existent unless you know exactly where to look. Believe it or not you may be able to find these types of jobs on places like twitter, craigslist and indeed. Most “jobs” though are nothing more than providing internet marketing for small businesses or one man service providers.

Just like with all things internet marketing related you need to do your due diligence. This means, first and foremost using your common sense. For instance. I responded to an ad on craigslist the other day asking for internet marketing help. They replied saying that I needed to go to and register on easymoneyz.com… I went to look at the site and it SCREAMED **SCAMMER** to me so I did not reply back or register…

Having said this though if the site was a bit more professionally done or if it had provided the contact information to the organization or owner I would have been more likely to sign up for the “position”. If it passes through your common sense alarms then you would be doing good for yourself to research the company if it is not a well known brand or company. This is just to make sure that there is some good press about them or that at least they have some other information out there on them.

If you are ever concerned abut whether or not internet marketing jobs are real do a bit of under cover detective work for yourself. You will be glad you did.

First do a search for the company name or brand in google.

Second off once you have their website address you can do a search in google for the words whois lookup. This will take you to a page with various offerings for whois lookup directories. These directories are there to provide information on a person or company that has registered a specific domain. When you choose a site to use simply type in or copy and paste the url in. Make sure that you have everything in there except for the http://www.

Next you will see the registrar of the domain name i.e. godaddy, namecheap, etc.

Further down you will see information like Technical Support or Website Admin. There is another one that I can not think of at the moment but any way you will eventually see the companies name, address phone and fax if these are provided.

There are going t be some occasions where you will find things like Domains By Proxy in there which means that they are trying to keep their company information protected for what ever reason.

So if this is the case look at their DNS servers i.e. ns1.domainnamehere.com Usually if you see something like godaddy or bluehost that means that they have an account at a specific hosting company. If you see something that you know is brandable for a person, company such as another domain name in the above example you may be on the right track to finding out their information. You may even have to do this a time or two more but it is well worth it to make sure that these prospective internet marketing jobs are legit.

Any way you may not get far just doing a search for internet marketing job on google as that is not what most companies are promoting their positions as. There may be positions available like Social Media Specialist. The point of this article is just to be vigilant and take some time to review the company before applying.
